About ATLANTIC AFFAIRSATLANTIC AFFAIRS from and with Udo Lindenberg is am multimedia theatre-event. It´s the only rockshow in the world, which got the emigration of german artists during the 20the and 30th as a theme. The songs of Brecht, Eisler, Hollaender, Tucholsky and more in famous rocksounds of today. The cast is as famous as the show: Otto Sander, Ben Becker, Burkhard Dreist, Nena, Yvonne Catterfeld, Die Prinzen, Meret Becker and more - all big names in germany - play in ATLANTIC AFFAIRS. The cast is variable and outside germany, artists from the country, the show is played, enter the stage. They build the bridge to the history of both sides. All lyrics are translated for the audience. Stories from the emigration out of the other countries being a part of the play. An actor from the guest-country comes on board as a steward and tells the story of emigration in his country. In Shanghai an Beijing ATLANTIC AFFAIRS showed in 2004, that language must not be a communication-bareer. Togehther with music it can be uniting people. 
The StoryUdo comes into an unexpected inheritance in New York and looks forward to cashing in big money. But... instead of some good old bucks he inheritates 20 mysterious trunks. While crossing the sea from New York to Bremerhaven on board of the QE2, he starts -along with his new fellows (the ship entertainers) and some special passengers- opening the trunks. Udo, Nena, Ellen ten Damme, Nathalie Dorra, Tim Fischer and the Panik-Orchester discover fabulous songs out of the Berlin Twenties: notes, texts, films and stories bequeathed by German artists who had to flee from the nazis and migrated to America in the Thirties. Udo and his circle of experts investigate the material, adapt the songs to their present style, their contemporary groove: between punk and panic, diva and drama, ballroom ballad and machine room rock. With the 30.000 gross register tonnage of the ocean liner as a background rythm. In a night between day and dream, the idea of a big new show is called into being. Rehearsals on the reeling, a tremendous adventure-workshop and the frightening question: Will the programm be fixed before the landing at the "Kai der Tränen" (the "Pier of the Tears") in Bremerhaven? And furtheron to Berlin - and into the world! These songs are no worships to the ashes, they exist to pass on the fire. ATLANTIC AFFAIRS is also an inheritance: We want to bring the grand music of the Twenties and Thirties out of the nostalgy cabinet, free it from its musical vibrato, and set it right in the middle of the present of our FRG, our Florid Republic of Germany.
